The following newsletter was sent to Compass users on Wednesday August 28th 2019. This version has been edited where necessary to ensure relevance for a more general audience, both customers and non-customers. The purpose of our monthly newsletter is to keep members of the Compass community updated about the work that has taken place at Compass HQ and beyond.
When we began our monthly updates in June, we said that Compass was undergoing a period of transformation, with significant developments set to come. Changes to the product would be connected to a broader program of improvement, including a comprehensive rebrand. The first stage of our rebranding process has been the release of a new Compass logo, which you will see on our website, blog, and social media channels. The logo will shortly be revealed on the platform, appear on your invoices, and in official Compass communications - so don’t be alarmed if you suddenly notice some changes!
Of course, this is only the first step in a much larger process. In the coming months, you will see a new Compass site, improvements to the Compass app, and more. We understand that changes can sometimes take some getting used to, particularly when technology is involved, but our approach has been informed by your needs and is matched by a commitment to improving your usage of Compass as a whole.
Between our rebrand and the release of our Events enhancements (more on that below…), there have been several smaller changes released to Compass over the past month that we’d like to inform you of. We also have some competition news courtesy of our new ticketing site, CompassTix.
By now, your school should be using our enhanced Events module. While these changes mark a significant development in our functionality and overall user experience, they shouldn’t impact your school’s usage of Compass or Events: we’re making the changes to ensure Compass is easier to use, not harder. Our webinar series is intended to equip you to get the very most from the enhancements, rather than a requirement to ensure you understand the module.
You can access our Events webinars by following the links below:

Of course, if you do find you have issues using the new enhancements, our Knowledge Base articles have been fully updated, and our Support Team has been prepared to answer any questions you may have.
Not only has the Knowledge Base been updated with all the vital details about Events, we have also made the whole of Knowledge Base accessible for you to view. Previously you would only have access to articles relating to modules in your school; now you can read articles on all Compass modules. We believe this provides an excellent opportunity to see what else your school could be using Compass for - have a look around, and get in touch with our team if you find something that interests you.
Feedback informs how we update our platform, and this includes the input that we receive from parents and guardians; there is now an option for parents/guardians to add an Attendance Note for their student(s) directly from their dashboard.
After a busy month of conferences and events - including our own Compass Catch-ups - our calendar is slightly clearer in September, but you’ll still find the team at the Victorian Ecumenical System of School LTD (VESS) Conference at Altura Dandenong on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September, and the Queensland Department of Education’s i-Educate 2019 Conference at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th September.
In our July newsletter we told you to keep an eye out for news about CompassTix, a new ticketing platform built by Compass. We’re still working on building some brilliant functionality, but in the meantime we have two competitions for you and your school community to enter.
Who doesn’t fancy a trip to Bali? Partnering with Luxury Escapes, this competition launches on September 1st and challenges entrants to guess what a series of close-up images depicts, the first of which will appear on your Compass portal when you log in. Each week more of each image will be revealed, with the first person to identify all six images correctly winning eight nights in Bali.
The prize includes accommodation at the five-star INAYA Putri Bali resort for two adults and two children aged 11 years and under, a daily buffet breakfast and three dinners. Please note that flights are not included in the package.
There’s one last chance to enter our giveaway before August 31st to be in with a chance of winning a Hero 7 GoPro. Simply visit the GoPro Giveaway event here and get your free ticket!
