"Is your school management system doing a good job?" This was the question School News asked, inviting Compass representative Jon Mooney to provide an 'expert view from the industry' in their Term 2 issue.

You can read the full feature on the School News site, where Jon Mooney explains how to approach looking for a school management system, the types of information they can collate, and how a good system can simplify communication between teachers, parents and students. We've selected some key quotes below:

"...the difference between a public secondary school in Victoria and an independent primary school in Western Australia would be huge, but a good school management system should be able to operate in both, meeting the very different needs of each."
"Good providers should ensure that training and support isn’t just available when a new system is installed, but as an ongoing process."
"...some systems are capable of collating a range of different types of information, and integrating this within the one system. This is beneficial for teachers because it means not requiring multiple logins for different systems."
